Since summer is upon us, (at least in the northern hemisphere) I’d thought I’d check out what was available for boat shoes for vegans/vegetarians. The pickings are somewhat slim, but I found several possibilities over at Payless. Payless has many man-made, faux leather shoe varieties….of course these aren’t designed to be vegan-friendly so there may be issues with the glue and the shoes are surely shipped across the ocean. But, they have super-cute styles and you won’t be breaking the bank.

Canvas uppers and advertised “Eco-friendly vulcanized construction” …not exactly sure what that is …but it sounds healthy! …The reviews at Online Shoes are pretty positive, you may want to stay away from them if you have narrow feet. (they may be too floppy). They come in 3 different color combinations…the one shown is brindle/black olive.

The upper matieral of these shoes is made of a combination of hemp and recycled plastic bottles. They are vegan friendly and use no animal products. I was reading the reviews over on the Toms Shoes site and it is filled with people talking about how many colors they own! Apparently they are extremely comfortable and one pair is just not enough!

Saucony used to be my favorite running shoes….I always picked them because they had thick cushioned soles which helped to prevent shin splints. They were great for running and my occasional jogging.
